The project of a house on a slope represents two volumes cut into each other at right angles. The volumes are parallelepipeds of different proportions – one is elongated in height and has a flat roof, while the other is long and has a pitched roof. The idea is based on the difference on the one hand, and on the other hand on the interaction of two different in character and style volumes.
In addition to the dwelling house, we also placed a two-storey building on the relief slope. We cut the first floor into the relief so that only the front wall opens with stained glass windows into the courtyard, and the other three walls are hidden in the terrain. The area of the house is 270 square meters. In the basement is a Russian bathhouse, and in front of it on the street will be located a Japanese vat for steaming. The second floor of the building is a greenhouse and a winter garden.
The client of the house is a co-owner architectural bureau OBJCT, which developed the house project. It was an interesting experience for the bureau’s team to develop a project not for a third-party customer, but for a manager. Dmitry wanted to create a house that would comfortably accommodate a family of four – him, his wife and two children, as well as additional children’s rooms for the planned expansion of the family.
The house is oriented to the sides of the world and the view from the window – it was important for the customer to see a beautiful landscape in every window. The house has a beautiful view of the river and its floodplain. We oriented the large stained glass windows on beautiful perspective angles, and made smaller windows on the back side of the house. Under the house there is a basement, which contains technical rooms, laundry, storage and the main entrance to the house. It is important that the house is heated by a real stove designed according to old Russian technology. Cold air comes in from the outside and passes through the body of the stove heating the air going to other rooms.
