The Light(car)house in a little provincial town, Eumseong-eup, is a public parking tower next to the Eumseong-gun government Office. It breaks away from the typical figure of an industrial building and provides a bright and cheerful design for residents visiting or passing by the public car house. And we proposed an eco-friendly parking lot with green space and a view of Eumseong.
Through the perforated aluminum plates and horizontal louvers, nature and people become landscapes and flow into the interior and exterior of the building, and the rhythm of the mountains surrounding Eumseong flows into the city along the façade of the building.
The façade of the parking lot, which could be a large barrier and harm the surrounding landscape, was designed to open the façade towards the village and Eumseong-gun Office, and to allow sufficient lighting and ventilation between the patterns of each façade to make it bright without artificial lighting. In this little town, it is too dark to walk at night, even in the evening. The light from this car house becomes a light-guard to people to pass through the village safely and comfortably. At the same time, it was designed to enable natural surveillance inside the parking lot.
