Metyis Technology Center

GAA.2024 Silver Winner | Architecture

Metyis Digital Campus is set to become a new urban center in the municipality of Gondomar, serving as a prominent landmark that interacts with the city while fostering collaborative environments. This new Metyis Campus will bring advanced technological capabilities and combine the global business landscape with a wide range of services and technological partnerships, leveraging state-of-the-art management and development models.

Architectural Concept – Evolving Towards a Modern, Accessible Design

The overarching architectural challenge was to develop a structure that is regular yet open, inviting, and easily comprehensible. The design employs concrete for its plasticity and incorporates lightweight, tactile materials such as wood and glass, both inside and out.

Dynamic Facade Highlighting Regular Design

The project emphasizes orthogonality throughout, establishing it as a defining conceptual feature. The public amenities within the building and the plaza emerging to the south are designed to act as catalysts for a new local urban center. Externally, the facade mirrors the building’s rhythm, creating a dynamic expression that underscores its regular design. At the main entrance, the facade transitions to glass, offering a transparent, welcoming glimpse into the interior while prominently displaying the developer’s name.

Sustainability is a Core Element

Sustainability is integral to the architectural concept. The building is designed to provide optimal natural lighting, social zones, and green spaces, creating an environment conducive to the well-being and productivity of its occupants.

Function and Purpose

Metyis Campus will serve as an office complex that reinterprets classic architectural approaches in a modern structure that stands out from the surrounding buildings. The architectural ambition was to equip the spaces to stimulate imagination and creativity, supporting knowledge sharing and collaboration among multiple organizations and individuals within a complex, multi-user environment.
