Focused on family connections, the clients sought a home that balances social engagement with peaceful seclusion, designed to accommodate their large family in a boutique-hotel-like atmosphere. The result is an immersive experience encompassing architecture, interiors, and outdoor environments, blending various styles to craft a distinct aesthetic unique to the family and their residence.
Monumental in scale, the home is thoughtfully segmented into framed vignettes, each unfolding like a cinematic scene. Inspired by the clients’ collection of Hudson River School paintings, the design concept centers around “portals”—vistas that frame each space and connect the interior to the art. This narrative weaves throughout, enhancing the sense of place and unifying the design.
A secondary theme, “discovery of the nuance,” promotes exploration, combining grandeur with whimsy and modernity. Elements are deconstructed and reinterpreted, evoking a playful yet sophisticated atmosphere reminiscent of old Vegas glamour.
The H-shaped layout breaks down the home’s scale into intimate, discoverable spaces. A central gallery connects key gathering areas, including a media room, formal living room, dining room, and kitchen. A grand stairway leads to an upper-level entertainment lounge, while a central corridor serves as a crossroads between private and guest wings.
By seamlessly integrating architecture and interior design, the home strikes a harmonious balance between engagement and retreat, delivering a sophisticated living environment tailored to the clients’ lifestyle.
