The Thai industry is currently experiencing continuous growth, especially the automotive industry, which is growing at an accelerated rate. This rapid growth necessitates an increase in the development of industrial factories. This includes the expansion of administrative areas to accommodate the factory’s growth. The owner’s intention is to demolish and redesign an old building within the project to align with this expansion while preserving its original function.
This presents a design challenge: how to maintain the original building’s usability while integrating nature as a design condition. It can be observed that everyone tends to focus solely on the production of segmented parts, often forgetting about the neglected surrounding environment. This is a significant problem that has emerged.
This has led to the concept of SEGMENTAL ASSEMBLY, which uses nature to weave the separate segments back into one cohesive unit, thereby creating NATURAL AWARENESS. A key feature of this building is the large-scale “nature” that forms within it. At the same time, the building opens up to connect the internal and external nature, making them one. This creates an atmosphere where a key highlight of the internal spaces is that every room can be a part of this natural area. The inclusion of balconies also enhances the experience of connecting with nature and increases the interaction between activities and the garden.
The new STEM office is not just a newly constructed building. It serves as a new “nature” within the context of an industrial environment that is constantly emitting pollution and expanding, bringing vitality back to the building’s users and the surrounding industrial landscape.
