At the heart of the Gerland district, within the ZAC des Girondins, block 11, the program introduces a mixed-use development that combines several complementary functions. It brings together social rental housing and privately owned housing, alongside a stretch of commercial units and flexible mixed-use spaces for various activities.
The ambition of the project was not only to provide this functional diversity, but also to carefully integrate it into its urban context. From the perspective of rhythm, building volumes, and rooflines, as well as in terms of architectural identity, the design was conceived to resonate with the guiding concept of an “open and porous garden block.” This idea emphasizes permeability, visual openness, and the creation of shared outdoor spaces that encourage encounters and community life.
